Eclipse Glasses

One essential item you'll need to view the eclipse is a pair of certified eclipse glasses. These specially designed glasses are equipped with solar filters that protect your eyes from the sun's harmful rays, allowing you to observe the eclipse without risking eye damage.

When it comes to selecting the right glasses, safety is paramount. Ensure that the glasses you choose meet the ISO 12312-2:2015  international safety standard for solar viewing. This certification guarantees that the glasses provide adequate protection against the sun's rays, allowing you to enjoy the eclipse without any worries.

Luckily, for those in Saline County, the New Beginnings Pregnancy Center and the Saline County Library are offering these specialized glasses locally. Swing by either of these locations to pick up your pair and ensure a safe and unforgettable viewing experience. Thanks to the Saline County Library and Dawson Cooperative, all BPS students and staff have been provided with their Eclipse glasses.

Remember, never attempt to view an eclipse with your naked eyes or through regular sunglasses. These methods offer insufficient protection and can cause permanent eye damage.

Plan Ahead.

Prepare for the upcoming eclipse on April 8 by planning ahead:

- Schedule your errands and appointments early.

- Establish a communication plan with your family and friends.

- Keep cash on hand in case of internet connectivity issues.

- Stock up on essential groceries and fill up your gas tank beforehand.

During the eclipse weekend, expect heavy traffic and longer wait times at local establishments like restaurants, gas stations, and grocery stores. Be prepared!

Watch the Eclipse on YouTube.

If you don’t have eclipse glasses or you prefer to stay inside that day, you can watch it unfold online. NASA will be live on YouTube starting at noon on April 8. Watch it here: https://youtube/@nasa
