Starting the year write! âïž Fresh pages, bold ideas, and immediate encouragement.
Mrs. Garnerâs 6th grade students connect and lift each other up through their shared stories. Watching them collaborate, validate each otherâs thinking, and build immediate trust has been the perfect way to set the tone for the months ahead. The future looks incredibly bright (and beautifully written)! đâ€ïž

đ±đ§Ș Science is growing in Mrs. Simpsonâs 5th Grade Science Class! đ§Șđ±
Students have been analyzing and interpreting data from our inch plant investigation to help answer an important question: What do plants need to grow? đż
Through their observations and data, students are investigating how water, air, soil, and light affect plant growth. Our young scientists are using evidence to determine what plants need to survive and grow! đđđ±

Mrs. Antleâs class has been busy building a strong foundation for learning! âš
The class has been getting to know one another, establishing procedures and routines, playing learning games, working with hands-on manipulatives, completing team tasks, and reviewing previous skillsâwith a little help from Cheez-Its! đ§đ
They are also using Building Thinking Classroom strategies to encourage deeper thinking, and strengthen problem-solving skills. đ§
Itâs been a great start to the year, and the students are excited to see all the learning still to come!đđĄ

From âNotices & Wondersâ to a Real Science Investigation! đŹâš
Our Dancing Raisins phenomenon has turned into an exciting student-led investigation! đđ«§
After observing the raisins âdance,â students created lists of notices and wonders. From their observations and questions, they developed a driving question and identified the variables they needed to design their own investigation.
Now, theyâre putting their science skills to work! Students are using water, club soda, and Sprite as their independent variable while gathering and analyzing data to answer their driving question:
âHow does changing the number of bubbles affect how many raisins float?â
The best part? Students arenât just learning about scienceâtheyâre doing science! They are making observations, collecting evidence, analyzing data, and using their findings to answer a question they helped develop. đ§Șđ
If your child has Mrs. Eddleman for Science, ask them about the Dancing Raisins investigation and, most importantly⊠ask them what they discovered! đđŹ

Mr. Kochâs 7th grade science students are exploring where the bubbles 𫧠in a bath bomb come from! They discovered that the bubbles aren't just in the bath bomb, but they had to come from something inside the bath bomb or the water. đđ§Ș

In Mrs. Blankenshipâs class, students wrap up their lessons from the week by playing games like Battleship, dot boxes, roll and read, tic-tac-toe, etc. These games help them use their newly learned skills đ§ in areas like reading comprehension, fluency, and spelling accuracy. Exciting growth is happening with some of our newest musicians at BMS! Students in Beginning Trumpet đș and French Horn learned how to hold their instruments correctly. Students in Coach Rickett's PE class are having fun this school year. The name of the game is "Bean Bag Toe Tag" đââïžđŻ. If students are tagged, they must perform some type of movement to get back in the game. This could be jumping-jacks, push-ups, sit-ups, or any type of movement that will aid in muscular strength and endurance! đȘ
Good job, Panthers! Keep building those muscles!
