Students in Mrs. Heard's GT class participated in the activity "2 and a Crayon đŸ–ïž" where they had to work with a partner to create a picture, but both had to hold the crayon and draw without talking.

They learned about working together đŸ€ when communication is a challenge, and how to share control when working with a partner/team. They developed strategies for working through the challenge to communicate silently and learned that it's ok to share the power to create a shared picture so that both partners had input! 🎹✹

Students practiced using map features and map tools such as the key, the street name index, and the coordinate grid.

Special thanks to the Benton Chamber of Commerce who provided Mrs. Medders with a class set of analogue maps!

Today we want to celebrate one the fantastic kids in Mrs. Brasel's KeyCode class.

Mrs. Brasel tells us "I’m excited to share that Asher was selected as our GOAT of the Week in KeyCode class! 🐐⭐

Each week, I recognize a student who stands out through active participation, good character, completing their work, and helping others. As our GOAT of the Week, Asher gets the honor of keeping our GOAT trophy at his desk all week! 🏆🐐

At the end of the week, he'll get to pass the GOAT along to next week’s honoree — a fun little tradition that celebrates students who help make our classroom a great place to learn!

I’m proud of Asher and wanted to make sure you could celebrate this recognition with him, too!"

From everyone here at BMS, great job, Asher!

Simulation Stimulation!

The 🚀đŸȘ Mars Rover has transmitted back stunning images of the Martian surface. But did you know that it takes several minutes to transmit to Earth and vice versa? NASA has a lot of technology at their disposal but ultimately, it’s all used to transmit instructions to the rover. In the same manner, the robot students build will require instructions to operate.

In the Mars Rover Activity, students simulate the interaction between a student (acting as the Mars Rover) and Mission Control on Earth.

This activity fosters communication skills, team work, and critical thinking skills🧠; all of which are necessary for the 21st labor force.

Follow the adventures and creations of đŸ€– Robotics @ BMS this Fall!

Mrs. Moore's art classes are already off to a great start as they grow their art skills!

In 5th grade students are working on drawing a self portrait in proportion. They're coloring it with with a rainbow pencil! Then they're going to put all the portraits together in a community mural for the hall.

In 6th grade students are working on shading skills: they're shading basic shapes and drawing a close up of a dragon eye that they will shade and blend with colored pencils.

In 7th grade they have finished their first weekly zine, which is a little book about a topic of their choosing.

Excellent job, everyone!
