During Thursday night’s school board meeting, Dr. Kim Anderson, Superintendent of Benton School District, announced her plans to retire, effective June 30, 2025.
With nearly 36 years in education, Dr. Anderson has made a lasting impact on students, teachers, and the community. “It has been an incredible honor to serve the Benton School District over the past eight years. I deeply appreciate the trust placed in me as your superintendent and the unwavering support of the board. Our dedicated staff and outstanding students are the heart of our success, and I am truly grateful to have been a part of the remarkable journey,” she shared.
Dr. Anderson has served Benton School District for eight years, with the last three as Superintendent. Before stepping into this role, she was the Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education, overseeing federal programs, English Learners, Gifted & Talented, homeless services, Career & Technical Education, and testing.
Her career began in the classroom, where she spent 13 years teaching and coaching. She has also served as a Library Media Specialist, Technology Coordinator, School Improvement Specialist, and Professional Development Coordinator.
A lifelong learner, Dr. Anderson holds a bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate from Arkansas State University, as well as a master’s from the University of Central Arkansas. In addition to K-12 education, she has also been a temporary instructor at Arkansas State University and an adjunct instructor at Black River Technical College and Arkansas Northeastern College.
Dr. Anderson’s leadership extends beyond the district. She is an active member of AAEA, serving on the legislative curriculum committee, and is Vice President of the Dawson Co-op Board. She is also a dedicated member of AASA.
