Hi! My name is Amy Thornton, and I’m thrilled to be starting my 13th year of teaching—all of them right here in the Benton School District, teaching 7th grade English! I’ve been married to my husband, Terence, for 7 years, and we have a sweet but sassy 5-year-old daughter named Maylee who will be starting kindergarten right next door at Mountain View Elementary. Outside the classroom, I love to travel abroad, curl up with a good book, craft, play board games, and spend time with family and friends. I can’t wait to meet my students and their families and jump into an exciting year full of learning and growing!
Hello! My name is Kristin Wood, and nothing makes me happier than getting to know my students and cheering them on as they discover just how amazing they are. I’m a proud Benton graduate and so thankful to be part of this wonderful community. When I’m not at school, you’ll usually find me hanging out with my wonderful husband of almost five years, Camryn; our bossy, almost-three-year-old, Wrenlee Jo; and our dog, Milo, who keeps us all entertained. I can’t wait for an awesome year of learning, laughter, and growing together!
This is going to be my 18th year teaching! It will be my 3rd year in the Benton School District, and I will be teaching 6th Grade English Language Arts at MVMS. I have an Ed.S. in Reading and Dyslexia from A-State, which helps me meet the needs of my students. I am married to Russell, who works in HVAC at BR McGinty, and our 8-year-old, Andy, will start 3rd grade at MVE in the Fall! Hi! I am Kaely Littleton, and I will be teaching 5th-grade ELA this fall! My husband and I have an 8-year-old daughter named Leighton, who will be in third grade at MVE, and our sweet rainbow baby, Lila, is almost 2. She keeps all three of us on our toes at all times! We are always busy and on the go, but when we have time to settle, we enjoy being outside, gardening, playing games, reading, and just being together. I was born and raised in a small town near Grand Rapids, Michigan, before I moved to Arkansas. I pursued my bachelor's and master's degrees at Michigan State University. GO GREEN!! This is my 10th year of teaching and my second year in the Benton School District. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Henderson State University and a Master’s degree in Educational Theory and Practice from Arkansas State University. Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our 11- and 14-year-old daughters, and our two very spoiled dogs.
I was born and raised in Benton, Arkansas. I graduated from Benton High School in 1988. My husband and I have been married for 35 years and have two grown daughters and one son-in-law. I have a business degree, but I began working at Angie Grant in 2007 as a reading aide and then quickly decided to return to school to start teaching. I taught PreK for 7 years at Ringgold and then moved to Angie Grant, where I have been in a Kindergarten classroom since 2017. I have a Master's Degree as a Reading and Dyslexia Specialist and have an ESOL Certification. I enjoy reading and spending time with my family during my free time. I am looking forward to working at Mountain View Middle, Mountain View Elementary, and Caldwell in the Fall.

I am a wife, mom, and Nana to the most precious grandbaby, Mary Katherine. My three girls all attended the Benton School District and proudly graduated from Benton High School. I enjoy spending time with my family, my dear friends, and two cats, Turbo and Meiomi. I very much look forward to this next year at Mountain View Middle School!

We also have one grandson, Maverick. He is the highlight of our lives! I enjoy spending time with my family and going to the beach. Our family serves in ministry at our local church. I am going on my 4th year as a school nurse with the District. I am excited about working as a school nurse at Mountain View Middle School, after spending 13 years as a labor and delivery nurse — a role that deeply shaped who I a. I’m a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church and a 2005 graduate of Benton High School. My roots run deep in this community, and I love being surrounded by family and close friends. In my free time, you’ll find me outdoors — camping, hiking, fishing, going to the lake, or playing a good game of Mahjong. I also love traveling and believe in living life to the fullest. My motto? I spent my first 7 years as a middle school teacher and coach, leading football and basketball teams and learning just as much from my students and players as I hope they learned from me. For the past 8 years, I’ve served in administration as an Assistant Principal and Middle School Principal. Benton is an amazing place, and I can not wait to be your Principal. I look forward to high-fiving students in the hallways, celebrating achievements big and small, and cheering on our Panthers from the sidelines. I’m proud to say I’m just as inspired and motivated to serve students and their families today as I was in my early years. I spent the first 24 years of my career as an art teacher, and for the past six years, I’ve worked as an assistant principal for the Little Rock School District. While I truly miss the creativity and the positive energy of the art classroom, I’ve loved the opportunity to support students and teachers in new and meaningful ways through school leadership. I strongly identify as a teacher at heart, and I hope to return to the classroom one day, because let’s be honest, that’s where all the fun happens! Outside of school, I’m a proud wife and mother to three adult children, two biological and one step, as well as a daughter-in-law and grandma to two amazing little ones. My youngest son is engaged, so I’m looking forward to officially welcoming his fiancée into our family soon. With her comes the wonderful gift of a bonus grandson, who will be attending Mountain View Middle School next year. We’re all beyond excited to share this journey together! My grandbabies, present and future, truly are the center of my universe. I’m thrilled to be returning to my roots. Aside from the few years I spent in Jonesboro attending Arkansas State University, Benton has always been home—it’s where I was raised and where I raised my own children. I’m especially excited to return to the middle school setting and even more excited for the opportunity to help build something new with all of you. I look forward to getting to know our students and their families, and most importantly, to creating a strong, supportive community together.

Practice dates at benton indoor complex from 4pm to 5:30pm on July 22, 24, 29, 31. Equipment handout is at 9am at cook fieldhouse. July 22 is for last names a-j. July 24 is for last names k-q. July 29 is for last names r-z.
