In Mrs. Brimhall's class students wrapped up their week with some hands-on volume practice while putting the principles of Building a Thinking Classroom (BTC) into action!
Students worked collaboratively, shared their thinking, tried different strategies, and learned from one another as they tackled volume challenges. Watching their conversations and problem-solving skills grow was so much fun!
And of course, they had to make it a Fun Friday with "The Farmers Dilemma"! Students were engaged, collaborating, andâmost importantlyâthinking!

Our students put their integer operation skills to the test with a fun and interactive Quiz, Quiz, Trade activity! đ§ âš
Students partnered up, quizzed each other, traded cards, and then found a new classmate to continue the challenge. đđ
It was a great way to get students up, moving, collaborating, and practicing their math skills at the same time! đđȘ

Students in Mr. Webb's 5th grade social studies classes have been learning about the world's continents and oceans. One of the ways they have been doing this is by listening to the Continents and Oceans song! Songs make learning fun and are a great way for students to remember information.

In 5th grade students played some friendly games of beach volleyball and regular volleyball. For the 6th graders, Motivational Monday was a great opportunity to get in a good workout! Keep up the good work!

See You at the Pole will be tomorrow morning, September 23rd. Students at Benton Middle School that would like to participate should be in front of the BMS building by 7:15 AM.
Parent- teacher conferences are also happening this week at BMS. Conferences will be held this Thursday, September 24th, from 3:30 PM-7:00 PM. No appointments are necessary.

Our **6th & 7th grade choirs** put a musical twist on a classic game today! Instead of simply playing Rock, Paper, Scissors, students used the winners hand to **create 4-beat rhythms**. đŒ
After building their rhythms, students wrote the **beat counts** underneath and will use them to perform their creations with the class! đđ¶
It was a fun way to practice rhythm reading, beat counting, notation, and performanceâall while getting a little friendly competition in the mix! đ

BMS staff gathered after school for a fun afternoon of learning, laughing, and enjoying some friendly competition at the first monthly BMS Staff mahjong club.đ This is a fun way to unwind and spend time together outside the school day. đ

đđ„ Bath Bombs + Science = A Bubble Mystery! đ§Șâš
Mrs. Eddlemanâs students recently became science detectives after observing what happens when a bath bomb hits the water. Their observations led to a BIG driving question:
đ€ âWhat substance or substances in the bath bomb created the bubbles?â
Time to investigate! đ Students tested sugar, table salt, Epsom salt, cornstarch, baking soda, and citric acid individually in cups of water. The result? No bubbles! đ«§â
But after discussing their observations and using some prior knowledge, the class had an idea: What if we mix baking soda and citric acid together?
Sure enough⊠BUBBLES! đ«§đ And they looked very similar to the bubbles produced by the bath bomb!
Now the investigation continues! The students are on a mission to figure out exactly what gas is hiding inside those bubbles. đ”ïžââïžđ”ïžââïž

Students have shared their heartfelt thoughts and life lessons from the book, not only analyzing the powerful themes of Wonder, but also sharpening their descriptive writing skills by crafting the perfect sentences to support their original artwork.

The class has been getting to know one another, establishing procedures and routines, playing learning games, working with hands-on manipulatives, completing team tasks, and reviewing previous skillsâwith a little help from Cheez-Its! đ§đ
They are also using Building Thinking Classroom strategies to encourage deeper thinking, and strengthen problem-solving skills. đ§
Itâs been a great start to the year, and the students are excited to see all the learning still to come!đđĄ
