April is Month of the Military Child, and tomorrow is Purple Up! Day. We want to encourage our students, staff, and community to wear purple to show your support for our military families and students! 💜

Sports tryouts are underway! In the past, we have been able to provide sports physicals; unfortunately, we will not be able to do so this year. Parents/guardians will need to schedule their child's physical before tryouts.

Congratulations to these students selected for the 2024 Boys State and Girls State. Madeline Landecker, a fourth grader at Caldwell Elementary, stumbled upon an unusual discovery during a stroll to her family's barn—a rare pink grasshopper! Madeline took her rare find to school to show her classmates and teachers. She named her Millie. This story has been picked up by local news, national news, and the New York Post.

Benton Public Schools will be closed from Monday, March 18, to Friday, March 22. We look forward to seeing our Panthers on Monday, March 25, 2024. We hope our students and staff enjoy a well-deserved break!

The Benton School Board approved the 2024-2025 school calendar. The Benton School District will bank minutes in the upcoming school year. We have recently implemented an alternative calendar where we are currently banking minutes to make up for recent snow days. Although we have yet to determine the exact school start and end times, they will likely be similar to the current schedule. However, we will announce those times once we have them established

The Benton School District will make the following changes to school schedules and the calendar in order to make up the 5 snow days missed: Mon., February 19 (President’s Day) and Friday, March 29 (Good Friday) will be regular school days. Friday, May 24 will be the last day of school. Beginning Monday, February 5 through the end of school, the following changes will be in place: BMS will start school at 8:00 and dismiss at 3:10 BJHS will start school at 7:48 and dismiss at 3:10 BHS will dismiss 5 min later. There is no change to the start/stop time at the elementary schools. With the later dismissals, the bus routes will be 10 minutes later in the afternoon than normal.

If you are not receiving the district's text messages and would like to, text "START" to 98900. To receive messages, even after opting in, you must be a contact for your student in e-school. That means the back-to-school paperwork you filled out at the beginning of the year must have your number listed as a contact for the student. If you have opted out of receiving messages from a different district, chances are we use the same software, and you have also opted out of our communication.

Tonight, we recognized our School Board President, Paul Childress, for completing at least 50 hours of board development training. He received an award as a Master Board Member from the Arkansas School Board Association, presented by Superintendent Dr. Kim Anderson. Congratulations, and thank you for your hard work and dedication to the Benton School District!

Benton Public Schools will be closed on Monday, January 15, 2023, in observance of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday. Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 16, 2023.

Due to the LEARNS Act, we can no longer count AMI (Alternative Methods of Instruction) days toward the state-required 178 student instruction days. Therefore, if school is canceled due to a weather event, the day(s) will be added to the end of the school year. Decisions regarding school closings will most likely be made the day of.
