flag team

At Howard Perrin, our 4th graders have opportunities to step into leadership roles and make a difference in our school community. One of those special opportunities is serving on our Patriotic Panthers Flag Team!

Students interested in joining the team completed an application explaining why the responsibility was important to them. Their responses showed just how seriously they viewed the opportunity to serve our school. One student shared, “I want to be in the Air Force one day, and I respect the flag.”

Our Patriotic Panthers are learning that raising and lowering the American flag each day is more than just a job—it is a responsibility that should be carried out with care and respect.

The team receives special training from our own music teacher, Mr. Kotarek, who also serves as a member of the National Guard. Mr. Kotarek teaches students proper flag etiquette, including how to respectfully raise, lower, handle, and care for the flag.

Team members serve on a rotation throughout the year, taking responsibility for raising the flag in the morning and lowering it at the end of the school day.

We are proud to provide our 4th graders with opportunities like the Patriotic Panthers Flag Team that allow them to practice leadership, responsibility, service, and respect while contributing to our school community.

These Panthers aren't just learning about leadership—they're putting it into action each day!
