Revised CDC Quarantine Rules
Effective January 6, 2022
Introduction
The number one thing to remember is: do not come to school with symptoms. If you have any of the symptoms below, please stay home and monitor your symptoms. If symptoms persist, contact your doctor.
Symptoms include
Persistent Cough, Nausea, Fever, Headache, Body Aches, Vomiting, Sore Throat, Diarrhea, Runny Nose, Unusual Fatigue.
After being tested, stay home until you get the results, even if a rapid test is negative. If the PCR test is negative, contact Cheryl Watson, district point of contact (501) 304-5140. Below are the new CDC rules for quarantine and isolation.
Rules for those Positive for Covid
You must stay home for at least five days.
Additionally, you can return to school on day six if you have no symptoms or your symptoms are improving and are fever-free without medication for 24 hours. Upon return, you must wear a mask from day six through day 10 at all times, including activities and sports. (Ex: Band, Choir, Art, Sports, Drama, etc.). If you can’t wear a mask, you must stay out the entire 10 days.
Close Contact Quarantine Rules
A close contact is someone who is within three feet of a person that tested positive for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period.
Quarantine for five days after the last contact with the positive person
Monitor symptoms
If you have symptoms, get tested and isolate
Return to school on day six as long as you have had no symptoms. Wear a mask for days six through 10 at all times, including during activities and sports. (Ex: Band, Choir, Art, Sports, Drama, etc.). If you can’t wear a mask, you must stay out the entire 10 days.
Must Quarantine if:
Not vaccinated or have not completed the required vaccination series
18 years or older- completed required doses of vaccine but have not had the booster, or
completed the one dose of Johnson and Johnson, but it has been more than two months, and you have not received the booster.
Do NOT have to Quarantine if:
18 years or older- completed the required doses of the vaccine and the booster (if immunocompromised, you received the additional shots)
Ages 5-17 have completed the required doses of vaccine
Within 90 days of a confirmed case of Covid-19
Both the positive person and close contact were wearing a mask as well as the close
contact having no symptoms. The person that tested positive must follow the quarantine rules listed above (Quarantine Rules for Those Positive for Covid)
70% of staff and students at a school are fully vaccinated.
Booster Information
When one can get a booster is dependent on the vaccine they received.
Pfizer- eligible five months after the second dose.
Moderna- eligible six months after the second dose.
Johnson & Johnson- eligible two months after receiving the vaccine dose.
