Our school is beginning the first full year of implementation of LAUNCH for Students (LFS), a statewide platform designed to help students develop and manage their Student Success Plans (SSPs). The program supports students as they explore their interests, consider potential careers, plan their high school coursework, and prepare for life after graduation. It also provides a central place for students to develop and maintain their Student Success Plans.
So far, our students have logged into the LFS platform and are currently working through their Interest Assessments. These assessments will help students learn more about what they might enjoy in a future career and identify potential career matches based on their interests.
As students progress through LFS, they will use the information they gather to:
Identify high school pathways that connect to their top career choices.
Determine which diploma option they plan to pursue.
Explore postsecondary education and training opportunities related to their career interests.
Develop a plan for the courses they would like to take throughout high school.
Identify college and career readiness assessments that may be appropriate for their goals.
Continue building and updating their Student Success Plan as they progress through school.
The goal is for students to begin making intentional connections between who they are, what they enjoy, what they want to do in the future, and the steps they need to take to get there.
Parents and guardians will also participate in the process. The LFS platform allows guardians to connect their accounts to their students and view and acknowledge their students' Student Success Plans. Our parents can expect to receive additional information in the spring about how to log in and view and approve their student's SSP. In the meantime, parents and guardians can assist the school by ensuring they have accurate email addresses on file.
Because this is the first full year of statewide implementation, our students are among the first groups experiencing the complete LFS process. We look forward to seeing how their interests and plans develop throughout their junior high and high school years and to helping them make thoughtful decisions about their futures.
