Dr. Mike Skelton, Superintendent
Dr. Mike Skelton, Superintendent, officially began his duties on July 1, 2016. He is entering his twenty-seventh (27) year in education. Dr. Skelton worked in the West Memphis SD for nine (9) years serving as a teacher, coach, and bus driver. He stepped into administration in the Pocahontas SD serving as an assistant principal for three (3) years. He worked for four (4) years as an assistant principal/principal while in the Paragould SD, and then he spent seven (7) years working in the Jonesboro SD as a principal/assistant superintendent prior to coming to work in the Benton School District in 2016. Dr. Skelton has earned his bachelor’s, master’s, specialist, and doctorate degrees from Arkansas State University. He is also an adjunct professor for William Woods University and Arkansas State University.
Dr. Kim Anderson, Assistant Superintendent
Dr. Kim Anderson, Assistant Superintendent, has been in education for 29 years as a teacher, coach, Library Media Specialist, technology coordinator, school improvement specialist and professional development coordinator. Dr. Anderson earned a bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate from Arkansas State University and a master’s from University of Central Arkansas. Before beginning in K-12 education, she served one year as a temporary instructor for Arkansas State University and has been an adjunct instructor for Black River Technical College and Arkansas Northeastern College.
|Dr. Eric Saunders, Assistant Superintendent|
Dr. Eric Saunders began working for the Benton School District on July 1, 2018. He currently serves as an assistant superintendent. Prior to joining the Benton School District, he served as Assistant Commissioner for the Arkansas Department of Education over the divisions of Fiscal and Administrative Services as well as Research and Technology. Prior to working at the Arkansas Department of Education, Saunders served as superintendent of the East End School District. He also served as principal at Lavaca High School. Saunders worked as a math teacher and coach at Gentry High School, where he taught various math courses including calculus and Advanced Placement statistics. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Oklahoma State University as well as a Master of Education and a Doctor of Education from Harding University in Searcy. He completed the Arkansas Leadership Academy’s Superintendent Institute and phase one of the Master Principal Program. Dr. Saunders is also an adjunct professor for Harding University.
|Dr. Larry Smith, Assistant Superintendent|
Dr. Larry Smith, Assistant Superintendent, began working in the Benton School District on July 9, 2019. He entered his 31st year in education and has served as a teacher and several administrative capacities including Assistant Principal, Principal, Assistant Superintendent, and Superintendent. He worked for the Arkansas Association of Educational Administrators as the Program Director for the Beginning Administrator Induction program. Dr. Smith grew up in Benton and graduated from Benton High School in 1982 before attending the University of Central Arkansas where he received both his BSE in English and MSE in Secondary School Leadership. He then attended UALR where he completed his Doctorate in Educational Administration and Supervision.
Chris Hinson, Chief Financial Officer
Chris Hinson began his role as Chief Financial Officer on July 1, 2019. He has worked in education for 10 years as a secondary math teacher and assistant principal. Prior to beginning his career in education, he worked in the brokerage accounting field. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in finance from Ouachita Baptist University, a master's degree in teaching from the University of Central Arkansas, and an administrative degree from Arkansas State University.
|Kevin Chastain, Plant Manager|
Kevin Chastain, Plant Manager, has been with the Benton School District for fifteen years. Before beginning his current position, he spent a number of years working in the manufacturing and construction industry. He performed custom fabrications as owner/operator of C&C Plastics, Inc., for 11 years. Kevin is a lifelong resident of Benton, a graduate of Benton High School, and a graduate of Southern Technical College.
Isabella Bradley, Technology Director & Public Relations Director
Isabella Bradley has been with the Benton School District since November 2019. Before beginning this position, Bradley spent 5 years as an anchor/reporter with KARK/KLRT in Little Rock, and just under 2 years in Fort Wayne, Indiana as a reporter. Bradley completed her Bachelors in Arts at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Bradley is originally from the Chicagoland area, but now calls Benton home.
Angela McWhorter, Special Education Director/504 Coordinator
Angela McWhorter, Director of Special Education, has been in education for fourteen (14) years. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and her graduate degree from Northeastern State University. Mrs. McWhorter has served in various roles that include: speech-language pathologist, response-to-intervention coordinator, mental health coordinator, and curriculum/program administrator of special education services. This year is Mrs. McWhorter's fifth year as the Director of Special Education for the Benton School District.
|Scott Neathery, Athletic Director|
Scott Neathery was named athletic director of the Benton School District effective July 1, 2016. He has been in education for 24 years and began teaching/coaching in 1995 at Bryant School District. During his career, he has served as a physical education/health teacher, girls’ soccer coach, offensive coordinator, transportation and athletic director, and head football coach at Sheridan and Benton. He earned a bachelor of science degree in secondary education from Ouachita Baptist University where he received a scholarship to play football.
|Danny Revis, Transportation Director|
Danny Revis, transportation director for the Benton School District, has worked in education for 21 years as a special education teacher and transportation director. He worked at Rivendell Behavioral Health as a counselor and teacher before entering public education. He is a graduate of Benton High School. He holds a BA in Sociology from Arkansas-Little Rock and an MEd from Henderson State University.
