WATCH DOG DADS

We are so excited about the Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) program here at Angie Grant! The organization was started in Springdale, Arkansas in a single classroom and has now grown into a nationally recognized program. There are two main goals according to the organizations website: To provide positive male role models for the students, and to provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying. Dads, stepdads, grandfathers, uncles, and other father figures are invited into their student’s school to volunteer at least one full day during the school year.

A typical day starts off with a brief orientation of our school and the schedule for the day. Morning announcements include an introduction of you and your child. Then it's off to help with classroom projects, work with small groups of students, and many other activities. WatchDOGS are encouraged to have lunch with their child, assist with other lunch times, and hang out on the playground. There is always a game of chase waiting to happen! This is a great way to have positive interactions with students. The day ends by completing a program survey and saying goodbye to students for the day.
