5th Brigade, United States Army Cadet Command, inspected the Benton High School JROTC Program as part of the JROTC Program of Accreditation (JPA) on 10 April 2018. The Cadets conducted several exercises as part of the inspection including a presentation of the Continuous Improvement Project, a presentation of our Service Learning Project, an In-Ranks Inspection, a Color Guard demonstration, a Drill Team demonstration, and interviews between the inspectors and Cadets. The Cadets earned a score of 95.75% placing the program in the category of Honor Unit with Distinction (HUD). HUD is the highest ranking possible for a JROTC Program and is awarded to schools that rank in the top 10% of JROTC Programs nationwide. As an Honor Unit with Distinction, the Cadets will wear a Gold Star on their uniforms. Additionally with this recognition, the Senior Army Instructor is authorized to nominate Cadets in the program to any of the Service Academies.
