Library of Congress sponsors Letters about Literature writing contest which promotes reading and writing.  The theme of the contest is "How did an author's work change your view of the world or yourself?"

There were 700 Arkansas entries, 28 made it through the first round of national judging, and Kaelyn Evans was one of them.  She is a finalist with special recognition for her letter to Harper Lee about To Kill a Mockingbird.  In this year's contest, Kaelyn competed against 9th through 12th graders.  Kaelyn Evens is in Mrs. Karen Westbrook's 9th grade English class.
