The Benton Panther Bass team was well represented at the Southern Conference Regional Championship on Cypress Lake near Shreveport/Bossier, Louisiana. Ryan Mozisek and Josh Gray weighed in 9.0 lbs. with 5 fish, only 2 ounces behind another Arkansas Team from Mt. Ida. Schools from AR, KS, LA, MO, NE, NM, OK and TX sent teams to compete in this event for a chance to move on to the National Championship. At the end of the day, their 4th place finish has qualified them for the 2017 High School National Championship. The National Championship will be made up of teams from the 5 Regional Conference Championships and will coincide with the TBF National Championship/FLW Tour stop in the spring. Each member of the winning team will receive a $5,000 Scholarship.
Ryan and Josh qualified to fish the regional championship by finishing in the top 10% of 99 teams at the State Championship last May, placing 10th with 10.10 lbs. This year was only their second year to compete in the Arkansas High School State Championship Competition on Lake Dardanelle. These two young men were the driving force to get the Benton Panther Bass Team started in August of 2014. They have served as President and Vice President of the team and continue to help us move in the right direction. We are very proud of their hard work and look forward to their future fishing successes.
