COMPUTER USAGE WARNING
This computer system is connected to the State of Arkansas computer network, and therefore shall be governed by all local and state policies and laws concerning use of this system and available resources. This computer system, including all related equipment, networks and network devices (specifically including internet access), are provided only for authorized users. Benton School District computer systems may be monitored for all lawful purposes, including to ensure that their use is authorized, for management of the system, to facilitate protection against unauthorized access, and to verify security procedures, survivability and operational security. Monitoring includes active attacks by authorized Benton School District and State of Arkansas Information Technology administrators to test or verify the security of this system. During monitoring, information may be examined, recorded, copied and used for authorized purposes. All information, including personal information, placed on or sent over this system may be monitored. Use of the Benton School District computer system, authorized or unauthorized, constitutes consent to monitoring of this system. Unauthorized use may subject you to criminal prosecution. Evidence of unauthorized use collected during monitoring may be used for administrative, criminal or adverse action. Authorized or unauthorized users of the Benton School District computer system shall have no expectation of privacy while using this system. If criminal activity is discovered, the information will be provided to the appropriate law enforcement officials. Suspected access violations or rule infractions should be reported to the Information Technology Director or the Network Administrator. Principals and Administrators,
To be in compliance with state policies we must have a "warning banner" posted at all locations where computer access may occur. I am sending this banner and the state policy (SS-70-003) via school mail. I am also attaching these documents to this email.
Below is a summary of the banner requirements:
Required on all access points (computers).
Banner warns user:
1. about what is considered the proper use of the system
2. that the system may be monitored to detect improper use and other illicit activity
3. that there is no expectation of privacy while using the system
4. of the penalties of noncompliance.
